ONOMOGO Scoring: Pickaxes, Multiplier & Combo

The fastest way to improve at ONOMOGO is to stop judging cards only by their printed number and start asking which layer of the scoring system they improve.

Pickaxes are the base income layer

Each pickaxe contributes to score earned per second. Engine cards tend to build durable pickaxe income, while Boost cards tend to create shorter bursts. If your base rate is small, later multiplier effects have less score to amplify.

Multiplier amplifies the engine

Multiply cards raise the multiplier applied to your income. Temporary Multiply cards create scoring windows; permanent or scaling Multiply cards can improve the whole remaining run. Their value therefore depends heavily on how much income already exists and how long the effect lasts.

Cards such as Stacking and Momentum also care about run history, so their value can change after every pick.

Combo rewards staying on one tag

Picking the same tag repeatedly builds the raw combo streak. A different tag breaks that streak. Maintaining combo can multiply live scoring, but long streaks also raise heat at combo 4, 7 and 10, so the game eventually asks whether another combo step is worth a more hazardous next offer.

Why balanced engines compound

Suppose one choice roughly doubles the base rate while another roughly doubles multiplier. Taken together, those layers can create about four times the original live score rate before combo or final bonuses are considered. That is the core reason ONOMOGO can accelerate so quickly.

The practical lesson is not to chase perfectly even numbers. It is to identify the weakest layer of your current engine and improve the layer that creates the largest marginal gain.

Final-score effects are a separate layer

Some cards change the final bonus rather than the live score rate. Those effects do not necessarily make the on-screen score climb faster, but they can materially change the result when the run ends. Poison cards can also reduce this layer as part of their downside.

Because final effects sit on top of the score you have already built, they become more meaningful when the underlying run is strong.

How to compare two offers

Translate each card into the layer it changes: base income, multiplier, combo continuity, future pick count, option quality, final score or direct cash. Then ask which layer is currently limiting the run. This is more reliable than comparing the printed numbers in isolation.
